Mentoring program for female talents in IT

Are you a woman with aspirations to advance your career within the IT industry? Do you possess professional experience and wish to further develop your career through mentorship with some of the most experienced female leaders in the field? If so, our mentorship program could be the ideal opportunity for you.

What are our expectations of you as a mentor?

We anticipate that you will serve as a valuable sparring partner, sharing your insights and knowledge gained from your extensive experience in the IT sector. You should ideally be a seasoned leader with a robust track record in management but we also welcome new leaders with shorter track records.

As a participant in the mentoring program, your commitment involves being accessible for a minimum of five engagements throughout the year. These interactions can take place through physical meetings, virtual interactions, or other suitable methods. It’s important to note that having an IT-related educational background is not a prerequisite for becoming a mentor.

What are our expectations of you as a mentee?

You are aiming to advance your career in the IT industry, and we expect you to have a minimum of a few years of work experience in the digital field. Alternatively, you may be an accomplished leader seeking the next phase in your career. You should possess strong motivation and recognize the advantages of seeking guidance from a more seasoned colleague and industry leader regarding your career trajectory.

As a participant in the mentoring program, it will be your responsibility to establish the framework and direction for your discussions. You must also be able to allocate time to actively engage in the mentoring initiative, which includes coordinating communication with your mentor.

About the mentoring program

The objective of the mentorship program is to foster diversity within the IT industry and inspire more female talents to embark on and sustain careers in IT. This program provides a distinctive chance to partake in engaging discussions with some of the industry’s most experienced and accomplished female leaders. The program’s focus can encompass a wide array of facets, ranging from career and leadership pathways to skills enhancement and the establishment of a robust professional network.

The responsibility for the mentoring program lies with the Policy Board for Female Leaders in the IT Industry, which initiated the program in 2016. Participation in the mentoring initiative primarily targets members of the Danish ICT Industry Association.

Timeline for the mentoring program

The mentorship program runs for one calendar year, and mentors and mentees meet a minimum of 5 times during that year. The program concludes at the end of the year, and a new round of the mentorship program is launched each year in September/October, with a matching event in November.

Both mentors and mentees are required to fill out a questionnaire to facilitate the matching process. The final match is confirmed before the end of the year. Due to the program’s popularity, we cannot guarantee a match to all registered mentees.
