Min vej til it: Nikoline Hjørnholm Pedersen, KMD

Meet Nikoline – Driving Impact Through IT at KMD

Nikoline Hjørnholm Pedersen unexpectedly discovered her passion for IT. While working at The Danish Trade Consulate in Toronto, she was tasked with mapping the Danish ICT market, covering areas like healthcare, gaming, and defense. That experience opened her eyes to the transformative power of technology.

After returning to Denmark, she joined KMD as a student worker. Today, she holds the position of Senior Director for Sales & Market Local Government and Private Market in Workzone, helping to shape IT solutions that make a tangible difference in society.

“IT is fundamental to our welfare system, shaping daily life in ways we often take for granted. From digital school updates and emergency alerts on phones to enabling implementation of green energy initiatives, technology makes a real difference. Seeing that impact is incredibly rewarding. Throughout my career, I have worked on different critical IT solutions. Some that were essential in ensuring people received their payments on time. Knowing that my work has a direct impact on people’s lives is what drives me every day.” she states.

Nikoline is also a strong advocate for diversity in IT. She believes that different perspectives lead to stronger solutions and a more sustainable work environment. Ensuring diverse voices are part of the conversation isn’t just about equality – it’s about building better technology for everyone.

“IT is a broad field with endless opportunities – whether you’re passionate about coding, UX, business development, or strategic consulting. We need to highlight this diversity so more people can see themselves in the industry.”

By embracing innovation and diversity, we don’t just create technology – we shape the future.
